Casey “Rev” Cassel is a tattoo artist based in Philadelphia, PA, where they have spent most of their life cultivating a deep sense of community. Operating under the moniker "Reverie," Casey's work reflects both personal and collective stories, captured through a unique and mindful approach to tattooing.
A lifelong artist, Casey has always found joy in creating with their hands, transitioning from their early experiences as a violinist and music teacher to the world of tattooing in December of 2021. The decision to pursue tattooing was rooted in a desire for personal growth and the pursuit of happiness, allowing Casey to fully embrace their artistic expression.
Specializing in machine-free, hand-poked tattoos, each piece is a testament to patience and intention. The process is slow and deliberate, with every dot of pigment placed thoughtfully under the skin. The result is a soft, textured, and organic appearance that deepens and softens over time.
Casey’s work is folk-inspired, illustrative, and ornamental, often reflecting themes of simplicity, childlike wonder, and a deep sense of nostalgia. Outside of tattooing, Casey is an artist in every aspect of their life. Their creative outlets extend to cooking, sewing their own clothing, and playing old-time music on their banjo. A lover of movement, Casey enjoys contra dancing and finds inspiration in the rhythms of both music and life. Reading and spending time in nature also nourish their soul, deepening their connection to the world around them.
